Advocate H.P. Singh Jasrotia from Jammu and Kashmir, popularly known as Bablu, brought glory to India by winning two gold medals at the Iron World Powerlifting Championship 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event featured athletes from more than 12 countries, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, Mexico, Maldives, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
Competing in the Masters category (50–55 years) in the 82 kg weight class, Jasrotia delivered an impressive performance across all three disciplines, with 110 kg bench press, 155 kg squat and 185 kg deadlift, recording a total SBD of 450 kg.
His performance outperformed competitors from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Mexico, securing two gold medals and raising the Indian Tricolour on the international stage.
The achievement was celebrated in Kathua and across Jammu & Kashmir, with sports enthusiasts and well-wishers praising the veteran powerlifter for his success.
Jasrotia credited his victory to hard work, discipline, consistent training and support from his family, coaches, and friends, expressing his gratitude for the encouragement he received throughout his sporting journey.
He used this occasion to inspire the youth. Emphasising the potential of young people as the nation’s greatest strength, highlighting the importance of health and sporting excellence in building a stronger India, urging them to stay away from drugs and embrace sports, fitness, yoga and healthy lifestyles
