Malaysia has set ambitious targets for Indian tourist arrivals in 2024, hoping to welcome 1.6 million visitors from India. This follows a good performance in 2023, when more than a million Indian tourists visited Malaysia, considerably boosting the country’s tourism growth.
Southern India played an important role in this success, accounting for more than half of all arrivals. Recognising this potential, Tourism Malaysia has stepped up its efforts by establishing a dedicated sales mission in major Indian cities. From February 3 to 7, the campaign will span Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi, in line with the bigger Visit Malaysia 2026 initiative.
Malaysian tourism officials, during their visit to Bengaluru on Wednesday, emphasised India’s consistent importance as a priority market for over two decades. They emphasised the importance of strengthening collaborations and promotional initiatives to sustain and increase Indian tourist inflows.
In addition to leisure travel, Malaysia is advertising itself as a top MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination. The country has world-class convention centres, premium hotels, and excellent connectivity, making it a perfect destination for corporate events and international gatherings.
