PM Modi Hails India’s Best-Ever Performance in QS World Rankings 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed pride in India’s outstanding achievement in the QS World University Rankings 2026, calling it a sign of the country’s growing impact in the global education field. He reacted to a post on X by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who praised the country’s performance in the most recent rankings.

PM Modi noted that the most recent QS World University Rankings reinforce the strength of India’s education system. He emphasised the government’s continuous commitment to establishing strong ecosystems for research, innovation, and academic success, particularly for the benefit of Indian youth.

For the first time, 54 Indian institutions have entered the global rankings. Among them, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is the top-ranked institution in the country.

Union Minister Pradhan attributed the success to a decade of consistent educational reforms, particularly the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. He highlighted the increase from 11 institutions in 2014 to 54 by 2026 as unprecedented and indicative of structural transformation.

The Ministry of Education stated that India has emerged as the fastest-growing G20 country in the QS rankings. Over the previous decade, India has experienced a 390 percent increase in the number of ranked institutions.
