Suryakumar Yadav Is World’s No.1 T20I Batter

India’s Suryakumar Yadav on Wednesday overwhelmed Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan to become world’s No.1 T20I batter in the ICC T20I rankings for batters. He is the second Indian player after Virat Kohli to hold the top T20I batter ranking.

Beginning his T20I games for India in March 2021, Yadav has swiftly established himself as one of the best batters in the shortest format of the game. He has scored one century and 11 fifties from 37 appearances so far.

The 32-year-old Indian cricketer has also played 13 ODIs for India. In the latest ICC rankings, Yadav has amassed 863 points with Rizwan at 842 points. New Zealand’s Devon Conway completes the top three with 792 points. In first three matches in the ongoing world T20 tournament, Yadav scored of 15, 51* and 68. In the match against Bangladesh on Wednesday, Yadav scored 30 runs off 16 balls.

In the latest ICC rankings, New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips moved up, to his career-best seventh position after putting up scores of 104 against Sri Lanka and 62 against England. Rilee Rossouw of South Africa also made it to the top 10 after scoring 109 against Bangladesh; the player climbed 17 spots to a career-best eighth position. England captain Jos Buttler also improved his rankings by gaining three places.
