India produced a memorable performance at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, winning two historic judo gold medals, a silver and a bronze in men’s javelin, the country’s first-ever decathlon medal, and sending 10 boxers into the finals.
In judo, Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh became India’s first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medallists in the sport. Asmita defeated Canada’s Heidi Quach in the women’s 48kg final through golden score, while Harsh overcame Australian Olympian Joshua Katz to claim the men’s 60kg title. Yamini Mourya added a silver in the women’s 57kg category, giving India its best-ever Commonwealth Games judo campaign.
In athletics, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra won silver in the men’s javelin with a season-best throw of 85.83m, finishing behind Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, who claimed gold with an 89.75m throw. Fellow Indian Yashvir Singh secured bronze with his personal-best of 85.41m, completing a double podium finish for India. India enjoyed a dominant performance in boxing, with 10 boxers advancing to the finals, including Lovlina Borgohain, Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas, Sakshi Chaudhary, Arundhati Choudhary, Jadumani Singh, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Panghal, and Narender Berwal.
In lawn bowls, Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar registered their fourth straight victory in the men’s pairs, while Nayanmoni Saikia won her women’s singles match. Indian cyclists, however, endured a disappointing day after failing to progress in the individual pursuit and keirin events.
India now sits 10th in the medal standings with 23 medals, five gold, 12 silver, and six bronze.
