Cambodia’s Hapkido Team Celebrates 35-Medal Haul in China

Cambodia’s Hapkido team returned home with 35 medals from the 3rd Asian Hapkido Championships 2026 in China.

The team won 12 gold, 9 silver, and 14 bronze medals during the August 13–17 competition.

Coaches, athletes, and parents helped fund the delegation’s trip. The journey cost more than $15,000.

Coach Kong Chanthina said the competition was highly competitive. Athletes faced multiple rounds across events from several countries.

Phin Monnyroth was among Cambodia’s standout performers. He won one gold, one silver, and one bronze across three events.

His gold came in the long jump, where he recorded a personal best of 3.80 metres. Monnyroth said the result followed nearly 10 years of training.

The Cambodian delegation described the medal haul as a source of national pride. Officials also highlighted the tournament as an opportunity to promote Cambodia internationally.

Following the team’s success, coaches and athletes called for greater financial support from the government and potential sponsors.

The team was welcomed at Techo International Airport after returning from China.
