Fifteen oil, gas and power projects seeking more than US$16 billion in investment were presented at African Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town on October 12. The projects were showcased during a Deal Room session organised by investment advisory firm Premier Invest.
Rene Awambeng, managing partner at Premier Invest, presented the portfolio to potential investors and financing partners. The proposals cover upstream exploration and production, midstream infrastructure, downstream facilities and gas-fired power generation.
The projects have different financing requirements, ranging from early-stage development capital to major project financing. Proposed funding structures include equity investment, acquisition financing, development capital and debt facilities.
The portfolio includes producing assets, tested discoveries, exploration prospects and infrastructure projects across the continent. These opportunities offer different levels of development maturity and financing needs for prospective investors.
The Deal Room is designed to connect African energy transactions with international capital. Developers use the platform to present projects and seek financial backing for exploration, production and infrastructure development.
African Energy Week is being held from October 12 to 16 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The event brings together energy companies, government representatives and investors to discuss developments and investment opportunities across African markets.
The US$16 billion represents the total investment sought by the 15 projects, not funding already secured. The proposals span several parts of the energy sector, from resource development to infrastructure and electricity generation.
