Singapore’s Government Technology Agency (GovTech) has launched an artificial intelligence-powered mobile application designed to alert users to potential scams as they unfold. Called AntiScam Pango, the app was unveiled on November 4 at the STACK Conference 2026.
The application analyses incoming message notifications and flags suspicious content through pop-up alerts. Users can report potentially fraudulent messages directly through the app or mark alerts as safe if they are false positives.
Developed by GovTech in collaboration with Google DeepMind, AntiScam Pango uses an AI model trained on more than 100,000 synthetic messages and scam-related data gathered through previous enforcement efforts.
The app currently operates on Android devices and can analyse messages from platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram and SMS. Its analysis takes place entirely on the user’s device, ensuring that private messages are not shared with GovTech or other parties involved in its development.
The application examines the most recent 10 messages from each messaging platform for suspicious patterns, including urgent requests for money and promises of unusually high returns. Users retain control over whether messages are submitted for reporting.
GovTech said the model is being further developed with Google DeepMind to improve its accuracy. The team is also working to reduce its memory requirements and expand compatibility with more devices.
The app is currently available in beta on Google Play. An iOS version is not yet available because Apple’s operating system does not permit applications to access notifications from other apps in the same way.
