Qatar Tourism reported that the tourism sector contributed QR55 billion ($15 billion) to the country’s GDP in 2024, representing around 8% of the economy. This represents a 14% increase over 2023 and brings the country closer to meeting its Tourism Strategy 2030 goal of a 10-12% share of GDP. Officials credit this expansion to coordinated strategies led by Qatar Tourism and its promotional division, Visit Qatar.
In early 2025, Visit Qatar launched a number of regional and international campaigns to attract visitors, including the “Moments Made for You” summer promotion, which targeted GCC and global audiences. Stopover campaigns spread to key markets including the UK, the US, South Africa, China, and Australia.
These initiatives coincided with important events like the Qatar Toy Festival, which attracted 130,000 people, the Doha Jewellery and Watch Exhibition 2025, Sealine Season, Shop Qatar, and the Qatar International Food Festival.
The second half of 2025 will see the start of the cruise season in November, the T100 Triathlon World Championship finals, the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, the F1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix, and the unveiling of the Michelin Guide Doha 2026.
