Saudi Crown Prince and Blinken Discuss Paths to Peace in Gaza and Lebanon

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to talk about the increasing tensions in Gaza and Lebanon. The discussions focused on measures to suspend military activities in both regions while addressing pressing humanitarian issues on the ground. Both leaders emphasised the importance of international cooperation in achieving peace and stability, especially in conflict-torn Gaza and Lebanon.

In addition to the problems, they discussed bilateral relations and regional developments of mutual interest. According to the US State Department, Blinken emphasised the significance of resolving the Gaza conflict, securing the safe release of hostages, and ensuring that Gaza’s reconstruction proceeds without Hamas authority. Both leaders emphasised the importance of long-term regional stability, with a focus on increased integration among neighbouring nations.

Blinken then met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. Their talks focused on Gaza’s post-conflict security and governance, as well as reconstruction activities. They looked for diplomatic measures to allow displaced Israeli and Lebanese people to return safely to their homes. These conversations followed Blinken’s previous trip to Israel, where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top officials.
