Indian athletes delivered strong performances at the New Taipei City Athletics Open 2026, securing multiple medals across various track and field events at the World Athletics Continental Tour in Taiwan. The competition witnessed several outstanding performances from the Indian contingent, highlighting the country’s growth in athletics.
One of the biggest highlights was Shaili Singh, who clinched gold in the women’s long jump with a 6.24m leap. India showcased a remarkable performance in the relay events, with the women’s 4x100m relay team clinching the gold medal by finishing in 44.07 seconds, meeting the tour record.
National record holder Tejas Shirse won silver in the men’s 110m hurdles with a timing of 13.58 seconds, and sprinter Animesh Kujur secured a silver medal in the men’s 200m event after finishing in 20.73 seconds.
India’s athletes produced several podium finishes throughout the competition, reflecting consistent performances across various disciplines. The meet served as an important international event for ranking points and exposure ahead of upcoming global competitions.
