INS Sharda Concludes Colombo Visit, Strengthens India-Sri Lanka Maritime Ties

Indian Naval Ship INS Sharda concluded its port call in Colombo on June 13, reinforcing maritime cooperation and strategic ties between India and Sri Lanka through a series of professional, training and cultural engagements.

The visit featured multiple interactions between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy to enhance operational coordination and strengthen bilateral maritime relations. As part of capacity-building initiatives, Sri Lankan Navy personnel received onboard training in small arms handling, basic firefighting, first aid, and rescue procedures.

According to the Indian Navy, the engagements were designed to improve operational preparedness and integration between the two naval forces. The visit also included professional exchanges, cross-deck interactions and friendly sporting activities that helped deepen the relationship between personnel from both countries.

During the port call, Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara visited INS Sharda and interacted with the crew, reaffirming the strong maritime partnership shared by India and Sri Lanka.

The Commanding Officer of INS Sharda paid a courtesy visit to Santosh Jha during the ship’s stay in Colombo.

The visit highlighted the continuing maritime partnership between the two neighbouring nations, reflecting their shared commitment to regional maritime security and cooperation under the vision of Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions(MAHASAGAR).
