India defeated Sri Lanka Cricket XI by six wickets on the third and final day of their warm-up fixture at the NCC Ground. Mohammed Siraj produced a stunning finish, smashing a hat-trick of sixes in the final over to seal the chase.
Chasing 207 after Sri Lanka XI declared their second innings at 200/6, India needed 23 runs from the final two overs. Siraj, unbeaten on 32 off just 15 balls, hit Sonal Dinusha for a six in the 44th over before launching three consecutive sixes off Keshara Nuwantha in the final over. India completed the chase with three balls to spare.
Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 61 before retiring due to an injury after the first innings. Captain Shubman Gill returned from a ring-finger injury, opening the second innings with 44 runs before he was caught off Ramesh Mendis.
Rishabh Pant scored 28 off 68 balls, including three sixes, while Ravindra Jadeja added a quickfire 22 after scoring 63 in India’s first innings.
The first innings ended with Siraj striking early by dismissing Ravindu Rasantha, and Prasidh Krishna bowled Pasindu Sooriyabandara. Gurnoor Brar claimed two wickets, and Jadeja added two late dismissals.
India now head into the 2026 Sri Lanka Test series with momentum, with the first Test scheduled to begin on August 15 at the Galle International Stadium.
