Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman led an Indian ministerial delegation meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at The Istana on August 20, 2026.
The delegation included External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of State Jitin Prasada, and Singapore PM Lawrence Wong.
The meeting took place during the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable and Business Roundtable. Discussions focused on implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership roadmap.
Ministers reviewed cooperation across trade, investment, digitalisation, connectivity, skills development, and sustainability.
Singapore remains a major economic partner for India. It was India’s largest source of foreign direct investment during FY2025-26, contributing $19.8 billion in inflows.
Cumulative FDI from Singapore reached $194.68 billion between April 2000 and March 2026. Bilateral trade also increased from $6.7 billion in FY2004-05 to $36.1 billion in FY2025-26.
The ministerial discussions are expected to support economic cooperation and accelerate the implementation of the strategic partnership roadmap.
