Smriti Mandhana made history against Hong Kong in the Women’s Asia Cup by scoring her 18th international century. The feat made her the leading century-maker in women’s international cricket.
At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 3, the India opener scored 124 from 64 balls. Her innings featured 14 fours and seven sixes as India posted 193/5. She had also shared a 60-run opening stand with Shafali Verma inside the first six overs.
Reaching the century in 57 balls took Mandhana past Australia’s Meg Lanning and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. Both had 17 international centuries before the match. West Indies’ Hayley Matthews follows with 15.
The innings also pushed Mandhana past former India captain Mithali Raj’s tally of 10,868 international runs. She ended the match with 10,880 runs across formats and got there in fewer innings than Raj. After the record was broken, Raj congratulated her and said she was proud to see her achieve the milestone.
The 124 also became the highest individual score in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history. Chamari Athapaththu previously held the record with an unbeaten 119 against Malaysia in 2024. For Mandhana, it was her second T20I century after the 112 she scored against England in 2025.
India completed the win by bowling Hong Kong out for 56. The 137-run victory also saw Deepti Sharma become the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20I history. India secured a place in the semi-finals.
