Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi Clinches two gold medals at the Asian Para Games

Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi won two gold medals at the 2026 Asian Para Games on Thursday, claiming the women’s individual compound title and the compound mixed team event alongside Toman Kumar.

The 19-year-old began the day by partnering Kumar to defeat Indonesia’s Teodora Audi Ayudia Ferelly and Ken Swagumilang 151-148 in the mixed team final. The pair had earlier set a mixed team world record of 1,402 in qualifying. The victory secured India another gold medal in para-archery.

Devi returned to the range later to defend her individual title against Singapore’s Nur Syahidah Alim. She recovered from a 55-59 deficit to win 142-139.

The individual victory repeated her success at the 2023 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, where she also won the women’s compound title. Her latest performance further strengthens her position among the leading athletes in international para-archery.

Devi’s campaign in Japan has also included a silver medal in the women’s compound doubles event, in which she partnered Payal Nag. The results give her three medals at the current Games, including two golds.

Her achievements come after she won bronze at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and the individual title at the 2025 World Archery Para Championships.

The double gold adds to India’s medal tally as the country continues its campaign across athletics, archery and other para-sports at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
