India record their biggest win by runs in Australia in Test cricket history

India began the five-Test Border-Gavaskar series against Australia with a commanding 295-run victory in Perth on Monday, November 25. This triumph marks India’s largest win by runs against Australia on Australian soil, surpassing their historic first Test victory in Melbourne in 1977. It also stands as India’s 10th Test win in Australia.

In the history of contests between these two teams, this win ranks as the second-largest by runs, following the Mohali Test in 2008, where India secured a 320-run victory. Stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah played a pivotal role, claiming eight wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

Bumrah became only the second Asian captain to lead his team to a Test victory against Australia in Perth, following Anil Kumble in 2008. At 30, he matched Kapil Dev’s record for the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian bowler in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia), with both now tallying seven.

India dismissed Australia for just 104 runs in the first innings, gaining a 46-run lead. Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) and KL Rahul then built on the advantage with a record-breaking 201-run opening partnership, the highest by an Indian pair in Australia.

Hardik Pandya becomes world number one all-rounder in T20I cricket

Indian Cricketer Hardik Pandya has reclaimed the top position in the ICC T20I latest Men’s Batting Rankings after rising two places, as per a report released on Wednesday.

It is the second time when Pandya is at the top of this list in the ongoing year after India’s T20 World Cup victory in the USA against West Indies in June.

Hardik Pandya had a great score batting and bowling in the Indian men’s cricket team’s match against Bangladesh at home last month, winning the match by 3-0. After this, he was adjudged as the player of the series with 118 runs and one wicket. His contribution was immense at critical stages when India needed him the most.

Hardik’s all-rounder performance was great even during India’s match against South Africa earlier this month, securing the winning title with 3-1.

Hardik Pandya’s performances propelled him to the top of the T20I all-rounder rankings, surpassing England’s Liam Livingstone and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee.

In the meantime, Tilak Verma went up by 69 places to capture the third spot in the T20 batting rankings. He was player of the Series in South Africa after scoring 280 runs in four matches, including two centuries.

In the batting ranking, Travis Head from Australia and Phil Salt from Englast are ahead of Varma.

India defeated Japan 3-0 in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024

India continued its dominance in the competition with a 3-0 win against Japan in the final league match of the Asian Champions Trophy on Sunday to seal its semifinal spot at the top of the table. Despite being defeated, Japan was able to advance to the knockouts after finishing in fourth place. This ensured that the two sides would face off once again in the knockouts.

This was India’s sixth win over Japan in their last seven encounters, but Japan defeated them the last time they faced each other earlier this year in the Paris Olympics. It was possible by scoring the lone goal in the match and dethroning India out of the competition. Although the Japanese team here is entirely different, the heartbreak of that defeat continues to rankle.

India completely dominated the match, leaving no space for Japan to get a look-in. In the second half, India was all over Japan by not letting them enter their circle. It was India’s defense that helped them win the match with ease.
