PM Modi emphasises that women should be made part of the decision-making process

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has underlined the importance of including women in decision-making processes, stating that nearly half of India’s population must be adequately represented in governance. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during discussions on key legislative proposals, including the Constitution Amendment and Delimitation Bills, the Prime Minister said that “Nari Shakti” is central to the country’s development and progress.

He stressed that women’s participation is not a matter of charity but a fundamental right that has been denied for decades. Modi remarked that the political system as a whole shares responsibility for this gap and that current efforts aim to correct historical injustices.

The Prime Minister also urged opposition parties to support the proposed legislation without politicising the issue, noting that empowering women would strengthen democracy and benefit the nation as a whole. He highlighted that women already play a significant role at the grassroots level, pointing out that thousands of Panchayats across the country are led by women.

Shri Modi added that incorporating women’s experience into policymaking would enhance governance efficiency and ensure inclusive development. He described the move as a crucial step toward shaping India’s future and reinforcing democratic values.
