PM Modi hails 7.4% GDP Growth, cites ‘Reform Express’ Momentum

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed the First Advance Estimates of Gross Domestic Product for 2025– 26, stating that they demonstrated strong economic momentum under the NDA government. According to the National Statistics Office, India’s real GDP is projected to grow by 7.4 per cent in FY 2025–26, higher than the 6.5 per cent growth estimated for 2024–25.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said India’s “Reform Express” continues to gain speed, driven by the government’s investment push and demand-led policies. He said the growth numbers reflect the impact of sustained reforms and public spending.

The services sector is expected to be the primary driver of growth, with output projected to increase by 9.1 percent. Financial, real estate, and professional services are estimated to grow by 9.9 per cent, according to the data. Manufacturing activity is projected to expand by 7 per cent, supported by government-led infrastructure development.

The agriculture sector is estimated to grow by 3.1 per cent, showing moderate growth in gross value added. Investment activity also remains strong, with Gross Fixed Capital Formation projected to grow by 7.8 per cent at constant prices.

The central bank projected GDP growth of 7.3 per cent for the year.
