Mr. Shekhar Natarajan, Founder & CEO, Orchestro.AI, didn’t start his journey with a silver spoon. He grew up in the slums of Hyderabad and shared a single cramped room with seven family members. There was no proper place to study, no regular electricity, and no real comfort at home. Many nights, Many nights, he found himself bent over books under the dim glow of a streetlights, not by choice, but because there was no other option. But instead of letting these hardships crush his spirit, he turned his circumstances into a story of hard work and discipline.
His mother played a substantial role in this transformation. She had studied only till class ten, but she knew exactly what she wanted for her son. For one full year, she kept going to the school and stood outside the headmaster’s office, waiting to secure admission for her son. Day after day, through heat and rain, she kept returning without complaint. When the family ran out of money, she pawned her wedding ring for thirty rupees so that his schooling could continue. These emotional moments were tough decisions she made in the face of harsh reality.
Shekhar learnt two lessons from his mother that stayed with him for life. First, education is a kind of wealth that no situation can easily take away. Second, integrity is not something you switch on or off—it must remain constant.
Years later, his studies took him to places like Georgia Tech, MIT, Harvard Business School, and IESE. Throughout his career, he worked with big international companies like Walmart, Disney, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Target, and American Eagle. But even after all this experience, the way he made decisions was still guided by the lessons he had learnt in his early life.
In professional settings, Shekhar often found himself facing choices where taking the easier route could bring faster results. At such moments, he chose to stay aligned with his values. Some of his ideas, particularly in logistics and delivery systems, were initially dismissed as impractical. Over time, they proved otherwise and created measurable impact.
Shekhar’s success reflects an upbringing where effort against all odd was non-negotiable and a mother’s selfless actions set the standard for what true commitment looks like. At Orchestro.AI, Shekhar now applies the same clarity and rigour to building AI systems that prioritise dignity, fairness, and trust.
With 207 patents and 25 years of Fortune 500 experience, he shows that technology need not be separate from human values. Today, his vision extends beyond profit or recognition; it seeks to build a world where technology respects human dignity, where AI reflects trust, and where every innovation is a step toward building a developed nation that honors both people and principles.
