PM Modi emphasises effective implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 at PRAGATI meeting

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi stressed the need for effective and timely implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 during a PRAGATI review meeting held to assess major infrastructure and governance initiatives across the country. The Prime Minister emphasised that sanitation and waste management remain critical components of India’s urban and rural development agenda.

During the meeting, Modi reviewed the progress of projects linked to cleanliness, solid waste management, and urban sanitation systems. Officials from various ministries and state governments participated in the session to discuss implementation challenges and strategies for improving efficiency. The Prime Minister called for better coordination between departments to ensure that projects are completed within deadlines.

Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 focuses on sustaining the gains achieved under the original cleanliness campaign launched in 2014. The programme aims to strengthen waste segregation, sewage management, plastic waste reduction, and scientific disposal systems in urban centres. Authorities have also been working to improve sanitation infrastructure in smaller towns and rural regions.

The PRAGATI platform enables the Prime Minister to directly monitor important projects and address bottlenecks through technology-based governance reviews. Officials stated that continuous monitoring and public participation will be essential for achieving long-term cleanliness and sustainability goals under the mission.
