Centre Approves ₹531 Crore Assistance for Rajasthan Solar Power Producers

The central government has approved Central Financial Assistance (CFA) worth ₹531 crore for 553 solar power producers in Rajasthan under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme, strengthening the state’s renewable energy infrastructure and agricultural power network.

According to energy department officials, the financial assistance will soon be transferred to the benefecieries bank accounts through the Ajmer and Jodhpur electricity distribution companies (Discoms). The initiative aims to support decentralised solar power generation while enhancing energy security in rural areas.

Under the scheme, ₹379.41 crore has been sanctioned for 432 energy providers linked to the Jodhpur Discom, collectively installing 429 MW(megawatt) of solar capacity. Another ₹151.21 crore has been approved for 121 solar power producers associated with the Ajmer Discom, with projects totalling 169 MW being developed.

Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme focuses on the solarisation of grid-connected agricultural pumps, enabling farmers to earn additional income by selling surplus electricity to Discoms. Solar power plants with capacities of up to 5 MW are being established on barren land located within a 5-km radius of substations.

Officials said Rajasthan’s Discoms are actively supporting developers to ensure timely submission of subsidy claims. So far, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer Discoms have submitted CFA claims worth ₹1,012 crore to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, of which ₹670 crore has already been released for 720 solar power producers.

Under the initiative, the Centre provides subsidies up to 30 per cent, with financial assistance capped at ₹1.05 crore per MW. Rajasthan has established 1,312 projects with a combined capacity of 3,371 MW under Component-C and currently ranks third in the country in this category.
