Shah Rukh Khan has unveiled the LA Knight Riders Cricket Centre in Southern California, marking a major milestone for cricket’s popularity in the United States ahead of its return to the Olympic Games at Los Angeles 2028.
The Bollywood actor and co-owner of the Los Angeles Knight Riders inaugurated the new facility with players and officials from the franchise. The venue is expected to serve as a training and development hub for cricket in the region while supporting the sport’s growing popularity across North America.
The cricket centre is located in the Great Park Sports Complex in Irvine, California, and is a venue for cricket competitions at the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shah Rukh Khan said the facility represented an important step in creating opportunities for aspiring cricketers in the United States and strengthening the sport’s grassroots ecosystem.
The venue features multiple cricket pitches and modern training infrastructure designed to support players at different levels, from youth development to elite competition.
Cricket will make its Olympic return at LA 2028 after 128 years, with men’s and women’s T20 tournaments scheduled. The inclusion is expected to further accelerate the sport’s global growth, particularly in emerging markets such as the United States.
