Piyush Goyal Holds Talks with Danish Minister to Expand Economic Partnership

India and Denmark are exploring opportunities to expand bilateral trade, investment and industrial cooperation following a meeting between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Denmark’s Minister for Business and Competitiveness Martin Lidegaard.

The discussions focused on strengthening economic engagement and identifying areas where businesses in both countries could deepen their partnerships. Goyal said the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to expanding commercial ties and building mutually beneficial cooperation.

Around 250 Danish companies currently operate in India, employing more than 100,000 people. Danish businesses have also expressed interest in increasing their investments in the country. Lidegaard indicated that a large proportion of companies were considering further investment even before the proposed free trade agreement takes effect.

The meeting follows Lidegaard’s visit to New Delhi, where he also held discussions with Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi. Those talks focused on cooperation in offshore wind energy, green hydrogen and renewable energy integration.

India and Denmark have maintained a longstanding partnership in renewable energy, particularly in wind power and clean energy technologies. The latest discussions seek to extend cooperation beyond energy into wider commercial and industrial sectors.

Both countries are looking to strengthen economic ties through increased business engagement and investment. The talks also come as India continues to pursue trade agreements and partnerships with European economies.
