Saudi Arabia has launched the Riyadh Digital District, a new hub aimed at attracting global tech companies, entrepreneurs and specialised talent while strengthening the capital’s position in the digital economy.
Announced by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the project is designed to help Riyadh become one of the world’s top 10 technology districts and support the objectives of the country’s Vision 2030 economic diversification programme.
The site will focus on six key areas considered central to future digital development: artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing and services, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and robotics and unmanned aerial systems.
It is being developed as an integrated ecosystem where firms, investors, entrepreneurs and specialised workers can operate alongside one another. Global and regional companies, as well as startups, are expected to benefit from dedicated workspaces and an environment designed to support business expansion across the Middle East and North Africa.
The district will also seek to strengthen collaboration between private firms, government agencies and other organisations. Regular meetings and public events are expected to bring together founders, engineers, researchers and investors.
Saudi officials said the venture would help develop digital skills, attract investment and create long-term employment opportunities. It forms part of Riyadh’s broader effort to establish a diversified, knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and digital leadership.
