Suruchi Singh, an Indian shooter, won gold in the women’s 10m air pistol at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha, making an impressive debut and setting a new junior world record. She overtook teammate Sainyam in a tense finish, surpassing Manu Bhaker’s six-year benchmark. China’s Yao Qianxun won bronze, capping off a successful season.
Singh qualified with 586 points, matching Qian Wei at the top. Jiang Ranxin and Yao followed, with Sainyam securing the final qualifying spot by countback. The final began with Sainyam dominating the opening ten shots, building a comfortable lead with consistent high scores.
Singh slipped to fourth place at first, but her quick shooting propelled her back into contention. Eliminations quickly reshuffled the order, with Sainyam and Singh separating themselves from the pack. As scores dropped, pressure increased on the field, allowing the Indian pair to tighten their grip on first place.
Singh continued to close the distance with a series of accurate shots, eliminating Sainyam’s lead and eventually overtaking her with a flawless 10.9. Yao won bronze by outlasting Olympic champion Oh Ye-jin. Singh secured her victory with a 10.6 on the penultimate shot, finishing with 245.1 points. Sainyam surrendered for silver despite a stunning late run into the final.
