Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new space cooperation agreement between the Indian Space Research Organisation and Norway during his visit to Oslo, highlighting climate change and the protection of fragile ecosystems as key areas of collaboration. The announcement came during bilateral talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
According to reports, the partnership aims to strengthen scientific cooperation in satellite technology, climate monitoring, Arctic research, and environmental observation. Both nations emphasised the importance of using advanced space technologies to address global climate challenges and support sustainable development efforts.
India and Norway also elevated their relationship to a Green Strategic Partnership, focusing on clean energy, the blue economy, green shipping, and sustainable technologies. Officials stated that the new framework reflects the shared commitment of both countries toward environmental protection and innovation-led growth.
The Oslo discussions additionally highlighted cooperation in the Arctic region and scientific research related to fragile ecosystems. Analysts noted that India’s engagement with Nordic countries has increasingly focused on green technology, sustainability, and emerging geopolitical priorities in Northern Europe.
