Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that India is set to emerge as a major force in the global semiconductor industry while inaugurating SEMICON India 2024 in Greater Noida. Highlighting the government’s long-term vision for technology and manufacturing, the Prime Minister stated that India is committed to boosting domestic chip production to ensure that the devices across various sectors are powered by chips made in India.
Addressing the event, Modi said the government has taken measures to strengthen semiconductor manufacturing in the country, providing support for setting up semiconductor production facilities. He noted that the sector is becoming increasingly crucial for technological innovation, digital infrastructure, and industrial growth, making semiconductor manufacturing a strategic priority for India.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s growing electronics ecosystem, skilled workforce, and policy support create strong opportunities for global semiconductor companies to invest and expand operations in the country. SEMICON India 2024 brought industry leaders, technology experts, and policymakers together to discuss advancements in chip manufacturing, electronics, and next-generation technologies.
In a virtual event, Prime Minister Modi addressed the International Conference on Green Hydrogen and stressed that climate change and energy transition are global concerns requiring international cooperation. He said green hydrogen can play an important role in decarbonising industries that are difficult to electrify and highlighted the importance of partnerships in accelerating the transition toward cleaner energy systems.
The Prime Minister stated that India remains committed to promoting sustainable growth along with technological and industrial development, with semiconductors and the green hydrogen sector expected to play a crucial role in the country’s future economic transformation.
