Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has called upon young people across the country to embrace cycling as a way of promoting healthier lifestyles and supporting environmental sustainability. The appeal was made on the occasion of World Bicycle Day, observed globally to raise awareness about the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling.
Mandaviya emphasized that cycling is not only an effective form of physical exercise but also a practical solution for reducing pollution, easing traffic congestion and encouraging sustainable mobility. His message aligns with broader efforts to promote fitness and environmental consciousness among citizens, particularly the youth.
Cycling has increasingly gained attention as an affordable and eco-friendly mode of transport that contributes to improved cardiovascular health and reduced carbon emissions. Across India, governments and civic bodies have been promoting cycling events and awareness campaigns to encourage greater public participation. Similar messages highlighting the environmental and health advantages of cycling were echoed during World Bicycle Day activities held in various cities.
The minister’s call reflects growing recognition of cycling as a tool for building healthier communities while supporting national goals related to sustainability, public health and cleaner urban environments.
