The Prime Minister posted on social media that India’s space journey will continue to reach new heights with greater private sector participation.
With the successful launch of the GSLV-F15 mission from Sriharikota, India took a significant step in expanding its space program. Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh termed the achievement a “quantum leap” in the country’s space journey, highlighting the rapid growth of India’s space sector in recent years.
Dr Singh, addressing the media post-launch, said the sector has witnessed unprecedented expansion in infrastructure and investment. He acknowledged the contributions of pioneers such as Vikram Sarabhai and Satish Dhawan to lay the foundation of India’s space programme.
India’s growing global role in satellite launches, Dr Singh stated that nearly 90 per cent of foreign satellite launches are carried out through ISRO. He further noted that India’s space economy, valued at around 8 billion dollars, is projected to grow to 44 billion dollars over the next decade.
