PM Modi Says India Emerging as a Trusted Partner to the World

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India is emerging as a “trusted partner” to the world, emphasising its importance in shaping international relations and likening it to trade.

Addressing the Indian diaspora at Salle Pleyel in Paris, Modi said countries are recently seeking reliable supply chains and long-term partnerships, placing India in a strong position as a dependable global partner.

The Prime Minister described the current period as a defining phase in India’s journey, with rising aspirations and transformative growth across sectors. He said India is investing in industries and technologies that will drive innovation, create opportunities and shape the future for generations to come.

Modi highlighted India’s achievements, the Chandrayaan mission and the country’s preparations for the Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme and a future space station. There is also growing acceptance of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in France,  which is expected to support tourism and economic exchanges.

The Prime Minister said the India-U.K. Free Trade Agreement will commence from next month, while negotiations with the European Union are progressing and are expected to create new opportunities for Indian businesses, workers and innovators.

Referring to his participation at the G7 Summit in Evian, Modi reiterated India’s call for partnerships based on trust, stressing that global governance must be inclusive, growth must be shared, and technology must remain trustworthy to benefit humanity.

He emphasised the India-France relationship as a pillar of trust, stability and cooperation, noting that the two countries are set to launch the TRISHNA satellite next year to support global water and food security initiatives.

Modi said India’s progress over 12 years has extended beyond economic growth to include social transformation, with over 25 crore people lifted out of poverty.
