Cambodia and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Tourism Cooperation with New Partnership

Cambodia and Saudi Arabia took a significant step towards developing their tourism collaboration on August 22, 2025, at a high-level conference in Phnom Penh. Huot Hak, Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism, welcomed Saudi Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A Dahlwy to discuss methods to strengthen tourism cooperation. The summit aimed to attract investment, promote cultural exchanges, and create tourism incentives during Cambodia’s less-explored green season.

Officials emphasised that tourism is essential for strengthening people-to-people connections. They emphasised that travellers serve as informal cultural ambassadors, bringing stories, customs, and experiences back to their native nations. Both sides agreed that increased mobility between the two countries will strengthen mutual understanding while also promoting economic growth.

Investment opportunities were also discussed, with Cambodia emphasising its long-term tourism strategy and Saudi Arabia outlining its expanding tourism vision. Cambodia’s Muslim Friendly Tourism Campaign, which was intended to welcome Muslim visitors by providing culturally inclusive services and facilities, was a major highlight.

Both countries also showcased their vast tourism potential, ranging from Cambodia’s iconic Angkor Wat to Saudi Arabia’s UNESCO heritage sites, including Al-Ula and the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. By partnering, the two countries hope to increase their global tourism presence.
