Canada is hosting the FISU World University Rowing Championships for the first time at Fanshawe Lake in London, Ontario.
Almost 300 student-athletes from 20 countries are competing across four days from August 13–15. All races are being streamed live.
Fanshawe Lake has a strong rowing history, having hosted the 2001 Canada Summer Games. It also previously served as the Canadian national rowing team’s home training facility.
The venue later hosted the 2022 Can-Am-Mex Rowing Championships and 2025 Canada Cup. The competition is taking place at the Doug Wells Training Centre within Fanshawe Conservation Area.
The site is also home to Western Mustangs Rowing Team and a Rowing Canada National Training Centre. The facility has produced multiple Olympic and World Champions.
Western University is hosting the championships in London, known as Canada’s “Forest City.” The university was established in 1878 and has a strong research and athletics tradition.
Teams from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the United States, and 14 other nations are competing.
