Indian boxers delivered an impressive performance at the Commonwealth Games Boxing Invitational 56th Grand Prix Usti nad Labem in Czechia, finishing with a haul of 12 medals, including eight golds, to underline the country’s growing strength in international boxing.
The tournament proved to be a successful outing for the Indian contingent, with the women’s team leading the charge by securing four gold medals and a silver.
Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), reigning Asian champion Preeti Pawar (54kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg) and Priya Chang (60kg) all captured gold medals after winning finals. Parveen Hooda (65kg) added a silver medal to complete an impressive campaign for the women’s squad.
The men’s teams emerged as champions in their respective categories, matching the women’s gold medal tally. Jadumani Singh (55kg), Sachin (60kg), Ankush (80kg) and Narender (+90kg) emerged champions in their respective categories.
In the finals, Lovlina defeated Italy’s Melissa Geminisi 5-0, while Preeti registered an identical victory over France’s Jeyssa Marcel. Sakshi beat France’s Mayssoun Bourge 5-0 and Priya overcame Barbara Maxova of Czechia in a dominant display.
Jadumani secured a 4-1 win over England’s Abdul Burton, while Sachin and Ankush recorded comprehensive 5-0 victories against opponents from Hungary and the Czech Republic. Narender edged out Armenia’s Davit Chaloyan 3-2 in a closely contested heavyweight final.
Aditya Pratap Yadav (65kg) and Kapil Pokhariya (90kg) won silver, while Sumit Kundu (70kg) claimed bronze, adding to India’s impressive medal tally.
The strong showing highlighted India’s depth and consistency in boxing and reinforced its growing reputation on the international stage.
