India and Cambodia are set to begin the second edition of their bilateral military exercise, CINBAX-II, aimed at strengthening defence ties and improving interoperability between the two armies. The Indian Army contingent has departed for Cambodia, where the exercise will run from May 4 to May 17.
The joint drill will be conducted at the Techo Sen Phnom Thom Mreas Provincial Royal Cambodian Air Force Training Centre, also known as Camp Basil, in Kampong Speu Province. Military officials said the exercise is designed to enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism operations, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief and peacekeeping missions.
CINBAX reflects growing strategic engagement between India and Southeast Asian nations under New Delhi’s Act East policy. Defence exchanges, training programmes and military exercises have become a key pillar of India-Cambodia relations in recent years.
The first edition of the exercise laid the foundation for coordinated tactical drills and exchange of best practices. The second edition is expected to deepen operational understanding and foster closer military-to-military ties. Observers say such engagements also contribute to regional stability and stronger security partnerships in the Indo-Pacific.
