Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with a high-level US business delegation led by Utah Senate President Stuart Adams to discuss potential collaboration opportunities in developing industries. The gathering aimed to strengthen partnerships in artificial intelligence, clean energy, essential minerals, biotechnology, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.
Goyal stated that innovation and youth enthusiasm may propel both countries towards a future of shared prosperity. He emphasised that India is in advanced negotiations with the European Union and the United States on comprehensive trade accords geared at long-term economic growth.
The minister reaffirmed India’s goal of doubling bilateral trade in products and services with the United States to $500 billion by 2030. He emphasised that all agreements will be based on mutual benefit and comparative advantage, rather than solely tariff considerations.
While appreciating the ongoing conversation on tariff problems, Goyal stated that India remains committed to a fair and balanced trade environment. He stated that talks between Indian and American officials are moving positively. However, India would not rush into any trade deal, ensuring that future agreements are equitable and consistent with the country’s development goal of achieving a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
