Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Jordan on a two-day visit to Jordan. Ahead of his first full bilateral visit, India’s Ambassador to Jordan, Manish Chauhan, described the trip as a truly historic milestone with the potential to transform bilateral relations. The visit marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan. According to Chauhan, the scale and complexity of the visit are unprecedented and have the potential to alter India-Jordan ties. This will be the Indian Prime Minister’s first extensive bilateral visit to Jordan in this millennium.
Prime Minister Modi will visit Jordan on December 15 and 16 at the request of King Abdullah II. The two leaders are scheduled to review the full spectrum of cooperation and exchange views on regional developments. They will also address an India-Jordan business gathering, emphasising economic links. The discussions are expected to focus on political cooperation, trade growth, investment opportunities, and cultural exchange.
The Ambassador emphasised the importance of the 18,000-strong Indian diaspora, which is well-integrated and active across sectors. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India is Jordan’s third-largest commercial partner, with bilateral trade valued at USD 2.8 billion.
