ISRO Plans Seven Launches by March 2026, Uncrewed Gaganyaan Mission Included

The Indian Space Research Organisation has planned seven launch missions to be completed by March 2026, marking a significant milestone in India’s developing space program. The first of these missions is slated to launch as early as next week, laying the groundwork for an intense launch schedule in the coming months.

The LVM3, India’s biggest rocket, will launch the Bluebird-6 communication satellite for US-based AST SpaceMobile as part of a commercial agreement with New Space India Limited. Early next year, the human-rated LVM3 will launch the Gaganyaan programme’s first uncrewed mission, carrying the humanoid robot Vyommitra to validate critical mission systems and operational readiness.

A second uncrewed Gaganyaan mission is planned before Indian astronauts are launched into low Earth orbit in 2027. In the coming year, the Oceansat satellite will be launched by the first industry-built PSLV, together with the Indo-Mauritius Joint Satellite and Dhruva Space’s LEAP-2 payload.

Other planned missions include the launch of the EOS-5 satellite with the GSLV-Mk II rocket and the PSLV63 mission, which will carry the TDS-01 satellite to demonstrate electric propulsion, quantum key distribution, and indigenous amplifier technology. ISRO will also launch a dedicated satellite utilising the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle during the same timeframe.
