PM Modi Inaugurates ₹12,000-Crore Delhi–Dehradun Corridor, Travel Time Cut to 2.5 Hours

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ₹12,000-crore Delhi–Dehradun corridor, marking a major milestone in India’s infrastructure development. The newly launched expressway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between the national capital and Uttarakhand, reducing travel time from nearly six hours to approximately 2.5 hours.

The project forms part of the government’s broader push to modernize road infrastructure and improve regional accessibility. The corridor is designed to ease congestion, promote tourism, and facilitate faster movement of goods and passengers between key urban and semi-urban centres.

Officials highlighted that the expressway incorporates advanced engineering features, including wildlife crossings and eco-sensitive construction measures, ensuring minimal environmental disruption. The project is also expected to generate economic opportunities in the region by improving logistics efficiency and encouraging investment.

The corridor holds strategic importance as it connects Delhi with Dehradun, a gateway to major tourist destinations such as Mussoorie and pilgrimage routes in Uttarakhand. Improved connectivity is likely to boost tourism and local economies while reducing travel fatigue for commuters. With this inauguration, the government aims to strengthen India’s infrastructure backbone and accelerate economic growth through enhanced mobility and reduced transit times across key corridors.
