Dubai Plants Over 300,000 Trees in Green Push Under AED 190 Million Initiative

The Dubai Municipality completed a series of landscaping and afforestation projects across major roads and intersections in the first half of 2025. These initiatives are part of the broader Green Dubai effort, which complements the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

The landscaping work cost AED 190 million and covered more than 3 million square metres around the emirate. More than 300,000 trees and seedlings were planted, as well as considerable ground cover and flowering plants, to improve the city’s green footprint. Native species such as sidr, ghaf, and neem were planted to promote biodiversity, while ornamental trees were added to improve urban aesthetics.

These initiatives have transformed key areas like as crossroads on Al Khail Road, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Al Khawaneej Street. Smart and sustainable irrigation systems based on IoT technology have been developed to assure water efficiency and long-term sustainability. Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, stated that these initiatives are intended to improve the quality of life in Dubai.

By the end of Q1 2025, Dubai Municipality had managed approximately 5.5 million trees and seedlings, considerably contributing to the city’s sustainability goals.
