Morocco’s GDP grew by 4.8% in the first quarter of 2025, up significantly from 3% in the same period last year. According to Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (HCP), this growth marks the country’s best first-quarter performance in previous years.
The industrial sector expanded by 4.5%, exceeding the previous year’s 3.2%. Construction and public works grew by 6.3%, while water and electricity services expanded by 5%. Manufacturing industries improved to 3.4%, up from 1.7% in 2024. The extractive sectors, primarily mining, grew by 6.7%, down after a strong 19.1% growth rate the previous year.
The services sector grew at a steady 4.7%, led by a 9.7% increase in tourism and hospitality. Public services increased by 6.2%. Transportation and logistics increased by 4%, down from 6.5% last year. Business services and R&D grew by 3.9%. The non-agricultural economy expanded by 4.6%, while the primary sector, which includes agriculture and fisheries, increased by 4.3%. Agriculture rebounded with a 4.5% increase, reversing last year’s decline, while fisheries fell 0.3%.
