Qatar participates in world customs organisation tech conference in Abu Dhabi

Qatar participated in the World Customs Organization’s Technology Conference and Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, held under the theme “Customs Agility in a Complex World: Securing and Facilitating Trade through Innovation.” The Qatari delegation was headed by Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal, President of the General Authority of Customs.

The conference featured in-depth discussions on key issues, including strategies to secure borders, enhance the safety of international trade, and facilitate trade flows through advanced digital systems. Participants also reviewed challenges facing customs risk management and explored the use of artificial intelligence and cloud computing to improve connectivity and data analysis, underscoring their role in strengthening comprehensive customs security systems.

The Qatari delegation delivered a visual presentation highlighting Qatar’s experience in adopting advanced strategies to accelerate digital transformation and improve inspection efficiency at customs ports. The presentation showcased technologies that enable frontline officers to make faster and more accurate operational decisions.

On the sidelines, Al Jamal and the delegation toured the exhibition, where they were briefed on the latest innovations and technological solutions developed for the customs sector. These included tools designed to secure supply chains and facilitate global trade.

The delegation also held bilateral meetings with representatives from various countries and international organisations to exchange best practices and explore areas of cooperation. The discussions aimed to strengthen partnerships, promote knowledge sharing, and support the adoption of innovative solutions to enhance customs operations and streamline international trade procedures.
