Rohit Sharma Breaks Multiple Records with 33rd ODI Century in Sydney

Rohit Sharma made history at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) with a magnificent century in India’s third One-Day International against Australia. The 38-year-old veteran put an end to all speculation about his retirement with a controlled 121 off 125 balls, leading India to a commanding nine-wicket victory and ensuring the visitors avoided a series whitewash.

Rohit, along with Virat Kohli, put together a crucial 168-run stand that displayed his trademark timing and elegance. His performance earned him the 21st century’s oldest player to make an ODI century against Australia, surpassing Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara. He also became the second-oldest Indian to hit an ODI century, behind Sachin Tendulkar’s historic performance against Bangladesh in 2012.

This was Rohit’s 33rd ODI century, and his 23rd since turning 30, extending his global record for most centuries by a player in their 30s. He also scored his sixth century in Australia, more than any other visiting cricketer, overtaking Kohli and Sangakkara. Rohit has 37 international centuries since turning 30, trailing only Sangakkara’s record of 43, cementing his position as one of modern cricket’s most consistent players.
