Singapore Firms Eye India’s Green Energy and Clean Tech Opportunities

Singaporean businesses are showing strong interest in India’s tremendous growth story, particularly in green energy, semiconductors, and sustainable infrastructure. Executives at the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), which took place from October 27 to 31, emphasised the importance of innovation and global competitiveness in responding to emerging challenges.

Among the interested players is SP Group, one of Asia Pacific’s biggest utility companies, which operates the world’s largest underground district cooling network. The company is expanding throughout Asia with solar, energy storage, and EV charging initiatives. Dean Cher, Managing Director of SP Mobility, stated that India’s clean energy transformation is gaining traction and that the company is willing to share expertise to help India achieve its national and city-level net-zero goals.

Cher emphasised the growing popularity of electric vehicles throughout Asia, naming India as a crucial market for adopting smart charging and digital energy solutions. SP Group also makes significant investments in sustainable energy projects, such as solarisation and cooling systems that reduce carbon footprints.

Collaboration dominated discussions during the Asia Clean Energy Summit, with industry leaders praising India’s renewable achievements, which include over 500 GW of installed clean energy capacity. SEAS Executive Director Kavita Gandhi stated that India’s solar development can provide vital lessons for Southeast Asia’s transition.
