Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted enthusiastically by the Indian diaspora in Muscat, Oman, with big crowds gathered outside his hotel waving Indian flags and chanting patriotic slogans such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.” The Prime Minister engaged with members of the community, greeting them personally and attending cultural performances in his honour, reflecting the strong emotional and people-to-people bond between India and Oman.
PM Modi landed in Muscat for the final leg of his three-nation tour and was met at the airport by Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs. He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour, emphasising the significance of the visit. In a social media message, the Prime Minister hailed Oman as a country with long-standing friendship and historical links to India, emphasising that the visit will boost bilateral cooperation.
This is Prime Minister Modi’s second visit to Oman, and it coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, highlighting ongoing political and strategic engagement. During his visit, he will have discussions with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq about commerce, investment, energy, defence, technology, and cultural cooperation.
