India and the Netherlands have elevated their bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten in The Hague. The two leaders adopted a comprehensive roadmap for 2026–2030 that outlines deeper cooperation in defence, semiconductors, renewable energy, trade, mobility, and emerging technologies.
The agreement is aimed at strengthening political dialogue and expanding collaboration in sectors of strategic importance. Officials confirmed that the two nations signed multiple agreements covering innovation, green hydrogen, digital cooperation, water management, climate resilience, and defence partnerships. The roadmap is expected to guide bilateral cooperation through focused and time-bound initiatives over the next five years.
Prime Minister Modi described the development as giving “unparalleled momentum” to India-Netherlands friendship and highlighted the growing alignment between the two countries on economic and geopolitical priorities. Analysts view the strategic upgrade as an important step in enhancing Europe-India cooperation amid changing global trade and security dynamics. Both nations also emphasised stronger collaboration in high-tech manufacturing and sustainable development initiatives.
