The 13th India-Oman Joint Military Cooperation Committee meeting was held in New Delhi. It was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh and Oman’s Secretary General of Defence, Dr Mohammed Bin Naseer Bin Ali Al Zaabi. The officials reviewed the two countries’ strong defence collaboration and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple areas.
Both sides expressed their views on regional and global security trends, particularly in the Indian Ocean Region. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence industrial collaboration, which includes joint development, knowledge exchange, and expanded production partnerships. Strengthening supply chains, encouraging innovation in developing defence technologies, and improving interoperability were also discussed.
The discussion focused on developing long-term frameworks to enable the co-development of advanced platforms, increase indigenous manufacturing, and build strategic resilience. Officials agreed that close defence cooperation is critical for regional stability, mutual security, and long-term modernisation.
During his visit, Dr Zaabi met with Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan to discuss future defence engagements. India and Oman maintain a strategic partnership based on political, economic, cultural, and defence connections, as well as common interests in regional stability, counter-terrorism, maritime security, and energy collaboration.
