India and Thailand to strengthen cooperation in defence manufacturing, research, innovation and capability development post 10th Thailand-India Defence Dialogue held in Bangkok.
co-chaired by Thailand’s Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence, Admiral Nuttapol Diewvanich and India’s Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Satyajit Mohanty. The meeting focused on bilateral defence cooperation and included discussions on regional and global security issues of mutual interest.
Both sides exchanged views on the changing security environment in the Indo-Pacific and reaffirmed their commitment to promote peace, stability and prosperity across the region. The delegations reviewed progress made since the previous interactions and assessed ongoing military-to-military engagements, training exchanges, capacity-building initiatives and maritime cooperation.
Defence industry collaboration emerged as a crucial area in the discussion. India and Thailand explored opportunities for better cooperation in defence manufacturing, research and innovation, and build beneficial partnerships in the defence sector.
The dialogue also covered cooperation in regional and multilateral defence frameworks, including ASEAN-led mechanisms. Both countries agreed upon the importance of practical collaboration and dialogue in addressing shared security challenges.
The meeting concluded with the roadmap for bilateral defence ties, elevating their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2025, providing further momentum to cooperation across security domains.
