Jaishankar, Qatar PM Hold Talks on US-Iran Mediation and India-Qatar Partnership 

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in New Delhi on Friday, acknowledging Qatar’s mediation efforts between the United States and Iran and reaffirming the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, Jaishankar appreciated Qatar’s role in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran, describing its diplomatic engagement as a crucial contribution to regional stability, noting that India values Qatar’s efforts to promote peace and de-escalation in West Asia.

The discussions reviewed progress across the India-Qatar Strategic Partnership, with both sides exploring ways to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, energy, technology, and people-to-people ties.

Jaishankar highlighted the steady momentum in bilateral relations following recent high-level engagements and reaffirmed India’s commitment to expanding collaboration across multiple sectors.

Regional security developments also featured prominently in the talks, including efforts to preserve stability in the Gulf and the wider Middle East amid evolving geopolitical challenges.

The meeting came after Qatar’s recent diplomatic initiatives to ease tensions in the region, reinforcing Doha’s growing role as a mediator in international conflicts.

India and Qatar continue to maintain close economic and strategic ties, with Qatar remaining one of India’s key energy partners and home to a large Indian community.
