Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke the record for the fastest century in Men’s Youth ODIs, scoring in just 52 balls. The record was set during the fourth Youth ODI between India U19 and England U19 in Worcester.
Vaibhav smashed Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam’s record of a 53-ball century set in 2013. Throughout his spectacular century, the teenage left-hander hit ten fours and seven sixes. Suryavanshi finally scored 143 runs off 78 balls, including 13 fours and ten sixes. This accomplishment follows a successful Indian Premier League season with the Rajasthan Royals.
At 14 years and 32 days old, he became the youngest IPL player to strike a century. His 35-ball century in the IPL was the second-fastest in tournament history. Suryavanshi has been steady in the ongoing five-match Youth ODI series against England.
In the previous encounter, he hit a 20-ball fifty, becoming the second-fastest Youth ODI fifty by an Indian. He was dismissed for 86 off 31 balls, helping India to a four-wicket victory and a 2-1 series lead. In the first two games of the series, he scored 48 and 45. Last year, he scored India’s second-fastest Youth Test century against Australia U19 in Chennai, taking 56 balls.
